To deal with hot, high pressure or corrosive gases, Spencer design and application engineers select from a wide range of metals, coatings and treatments with specific strength or resistance properties. To restrict leakage, we can offer a variety of approaches culminating in gastight hermetic designs.
In gas booster technology, Spencer has set the pace with the first hermetically sealed gas boosters, the first with UL listings, and the first to be approved for use in nuclear breeder reactors. Spencer UL gas boosters are approved for use in New York City (Board of S&A—Calendar No. 592-72-SA), Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Newark and other major cities.
Spencer UL Natural Gas Boosters offer the broadest available range of pressures (to 3 PSIG) and volumes (to 240,000 CFH). They feature a superior design with an explosion-proof motor totally enclosed inside the blower, where the motor is continuously cooled by process gas flowing past.
Spencer offers many high technology shaft seal options. For the ultimate in gas containment at temperature up to 1100°F and pressures to 300 PSIG Spencer can offer double mechanical gas purged seals.
The above illustration is a double non-contacting seal design that is used in applications where no emissions of hazardous gas product can be tolerated. The seal uses an inert gas barrier, such as nitrogen for lubrication, which eliminates contamination of the pumped gas product by a buffer gas. The system provides total containment even if the outer seal face fails. The seal face uses an advanced pattern groove system. The system insures low shaft speed lift-off, low gas leakage and no face contact.
This is a typical seal example, Spencer Gas Boosters and seals are offered in a wide variety of materials ranging from 304 SS to Hastelloy C276.
Carbon ring seals single or double, labyrinth seal with or without purge gas, packing boxes with or without purge gas, or hermetically sealed Gas Booster units, can also be supplied as appropriate to the customers needs. Spencer Engineering has decades of experience applying these systems to the most difficult gas handling application.
Spencer's proven ETO (Engineer To Order) process ensures you that each Gas Booster has it's own Project Engineer and team responsible from quoting stage, to design, manufacturing, inspection, testing, and final inspection before shipment.
